Gemworld promotes young talent
July 12, 2024
Gemworld Munich is particularly committed to promoting young talent as a central industry platform. Even in the early days of the Munich Show, the fair’s founder, Hannes Keilmann, placed great importance on passing on the beauty of nature and the fascination for gemstones and jewelry to future generations. Today, this is achieved through an extensive supporting program of lectures, special exhibitions, and demonstrations. Various interactive activities also inspire and engage children and young people with the subject matter.
A special focus has been on supporting young jewelry designers for many years. Since 2012, Gemworld Munich has organized the renowned Young Designers Corner, a prestigious competition that offers international talents the opportunity to present their creative designs to a wide audience. Additionally, there are special presentation areas for young designers and start-ups to showcase their innovative ideas and products.
Especially in times of skilled labor shortages, promoting young talent is of crucial importance. Therefore, training institutes, schools, and continuing education institutions are regularly represented at the fair to inform young talents and show them career prospects. This year, the vocational school Idar-Oberstein and the goldsmith school Pforzheim will be among those present. A highlight is the team from Pforzheim, which travels with workbenches and machines to demonstrate goldsmith training up close.
The German Gemmological Society and the German Diamond Institute (DDI) will also be present with booths. Both organizations are internationally recognized institutions for further education in the field of gemstones and offer visitors the opportunity to have gemstones examined on-site, in addition to providing information about their training programs.
For training companies, aspiring jewelry designers, and interested young people, the fair offers an excellent opportunity to network, gather information, and make valuable contacts. As the most important jewelry fair in the German-speaking world in the fall, leading industry companies present themselves here – the ideal opportunity to talk to future employers.
Gemworld Munich is thus not only a significant trading platform but also a central meeting point for young talents in the jewelry industry. It offers young talents the chance to present themselves, learn from experienced experts, and gain valuable insights into the industry.
The following schools and training institutions are represented at the fair:
- Vocational School Idar-Oberstein
- Goldsmith School Pforzheim
- German Gemmological Society
- German Diamond Institute (DDI)
